///I moved to Seattle almost 3 years ago and during my first week here I stumbled into a store downtown and found a piece of art that really spoke to me. At the time I had no money, just starting my first real job, moved to a new city where I knew no one and felt pretty alone. The safety pin that was depicted meant something to me, it meant security, it meant closure on personal matters and it also nodded to my punk days. I visited that safety pin on lunch breaks often until one day it was no longer in the shop. I brushed it off, but always kept the image in the back of my head in hopes I would see it once again.
A year or so back I was introduced to Jennifer Ament's work through a client who was hoping to use them in their home. In the craziness of the project I didn't put two and two together to realize it was the same artist as my beloved safety pin. I then was connected with Jenn a few month's back through mutual creative friends and after doing some internet spying found out the connection and was instantly excited.
Jenn is nothing if not humble, talented and a giant burst of energy and when thinking back on some of the amazing connections I have made over the past 6 months in the design world, I more than pause to give thanks.

Our mutual friend April held a show of Jenn and a few other friend's work at her home a little while back on a beautiful spring night here in Seattle and as I entered the kitchen, there it was, my safety pin. It was meant to be. And so it is.
Work hard, be yourself, stay humble and good things and people will come your way.
