6.23.2012///CLOUD HAPPENINGS, CATCHING UP AND MORE BRASS.

///Sooooooooooo I was really sick last week, like "I'm a big baby, watch Dawson's Creek all day, no eating" kinda sick. This week was all about catch up. Order placing, paper work with the latter part being some fun install stuff. The above custom coffee table was one such install that went well.

///Some fantastic sconces...

///...and a little bedside moment with tables straight from the lovely Grant Gibson's One Kings Lane sale a few weeks back. Show stoppers no doubt.

///The DIY in me did a little faux "brassing" on an entry console as well.

( and we have a theme)

///The above snippet is from a project that will be published this coming fall. The home in Seattle is one of my most cherished projects I have worked on and I am most excited to see it on glossy paper.

///A little self-edge linen for custom drapes for a client in Queen Anne.

///Seattle's weather this week was enough to slow almost anyone down...mostly grey at a time when all we want is a little sun for our faces. SOON SOON SOON, we all hope.

Off to relax and enjoy the weekend just a bit. I hope you do the same.

///A DREAM AND A SAFETY PIN.

///I moved to Seattle almost 3 years ago and during my first week here I stumbled into a store downtown and found a piece of art that really spoke to me. At the time I had no money, just starting my first real job, moved to a new city where I knew no one and felt pretty alone. The safety pin that was depicted meant something to me, it meant security, it meant closure on personal matters and it also nodded to my punk days. I visited that safety pin on lunch breaks often until one day it was no longer in the shop. I brushed it off, but always kept the image in the back of my head in hopes I would see it once again.

A year or so back I was introduced to Jennifer Ament's work through a client who was hoping to use them in their home. In the craziness of the project I didn't put two and two together to realize it was the same artist as my beloved safety pin. I then was connected with Jenn a few month's back through mutual creative friends and after doing some internet spying found out the connection and was instantly excited.

Jenn is nothing if not humble, talented and a giant burst of energy and when thinking back on some of the amazing connections I have made over the past 6 months in the design world, I more than pause to give thanks.

Our mutual friend April held a show of Jenn and a few other friend's work at her home a little while back on a beautiful spring night here in Seattle and as I entered the kitchen, there it was, my safety pin. It was meant to be. And so it is.

Work hard, be yourself, stay humble and good things and people will come your way.

6.11.2012///A REAL APARTMENT, SCOTLAND, THE WEEK KATE WENT AWAY,GRAY IN JUNE, MORE PLATES AND OF COURSE COFFEE

///Brandon and I met when I first moved to Seattle about 3 years ago and he has been a great friend. We have, over time purchased pieces from estate sales and antique malls for his various apartments...he's a good shopping partner. Two months ago, Brandon decided to move right down the hall from me and again we were challenged with re-using all of the great pieces we had collected. It can seem like college some times having a friend that close and it's really nice.

///The most recent addition to his place was this chest of drawers that we painted a bright kelly green of my choosing that mimicked his sofa throw. A real dude's place. Nothing too fussy, but full of style.

///Some inspirational reading from the past week. Steven Gambrel's new book has me speechless...yes speechless. Just read it. I was even more excited to pick up this little guide to Edinburgh where I will be spending a few days this July before heading to London. Cannot wait!

///A lot of the photos I take are merely to prove the point that many times the journey is WAY better than the destination and to slow down a few notches and take a look around where you may have just cruised by. There is so much to see. Go see it.

///Rug combo in a clients living room installed this past week.

///The perfect rug was also found for a master bedroom project. The headboard and roman shade fabric shown in the corner. Chloe Sevigny's New York apartment by David Cafiero was a big inspiration for this space.

///Finally, the 150 yr old Indigo dyed ikat fabric I brought back from Paris has found a home in the way of 4 giant sofa pillows for a clients living room.

///A sneak peek into another projects reading corner.

///The late spring lighting in Seattle is constantly changing and interesting. These past two shots are from morning walks.

///Another great find this week was from a great new shop here in Seattle called Sheridan + Company. A set of antique chinoiserie plates that I will use for a plate wall in a clients bedroom. Jason, who owns the shop is just the sweetest, and I look forward to seeing what new stuff he brings in.

///...and of course coffee.
